New book of BOGE

buchtitel_500

BOGE - this name is synonymous with a family who, over generations, have lived in Bielefeld or its surroundings, and it also stands for the company that Otto Boge started in his home town back in 1907.
This book highlights the development of both the family and the company in view of German history and, primarily, the history of Bielefeld from the Imperial Era through to the 21st century.
Appreciating the founder's courage and ambition for independence and self-employment, the book describes the unalterable goal of four entrepreneurial generations, viz. to maintain and further develop the company's position for the benefit of its successors. Technical inventions, commercial skills, and adaptation of the company to economic and political changes are the decisive impacts on management decisions.
This book also reveals some of the reasons why family run enterprises are often more successful than any other type of business organization.

BOGEbuch_500

It all started in 1907 with the distribution of door closers which were then made by the company founder's brother. After world war I, BOGE made a name of itself by developing special tools for the emerging auto industry including the manufacture of motor bikes before finally concentrating on the construction and design of compressors and compressed air equipment which to date continues to remain the company's expanding field of activities. This book does not only give an insight into the BOGE history but also into the development of both the metal and mechanical engineering industries in and around Bielefeld (available only in german).
