The BOGE group of Bielefeld, Germany, marks the financial year 2003 as its 6th straight record year with a turnover of 78
million Euros (77 million in 2002; 76 million in 2001).
This long-established and fourth generation family run company is now 97 years old. "With regard to its fundamental
economic data, BOGE is in excellent order and condition", emphasizes Wolf D. Meier-Scheuven, the great-grandson of the founder and managing partner of the company. The export share of
the oldest German compressor manufacturer has increased to 50 % of the total turnover. "This success is due to our policy to conclusively offer worldwide services and solutions to
compressed air systems", continues Meier-Scheuven.
BOGE is on the constant lookout for profitable commercial outlets - in Asia, for example. To this end, a BOGE owned production
facility for screw compressors will be established in Shanghai in the spring of 2004. "China offers excellent long-term perspectives and is presently considered one the most important
engines of growth of global economy. This is where we intend to specifically amplify our market share". In 2003, BOGE was able to double its turnover in this Asian country. This local
foreign subsidiary has lately received the "Best Performance Foreign Invested Companies" award from the municipal government. As a matter of fact, one third of the entire BOGE
export sales are being achieved in Asia - with further growth being expected. "It is our aim to even further strengthen this East Westphalian enterprise by going to China and to build an
assembly facility in the Realm of the Middle in order to help secure the company's future stability in Germany."
Piston, screw and turbo compressors are part of the traditional
product line including the entire compressed air treatment. As far as the production of oilfree compressors is concerned, BOGE already is the largest German manufacturer. Targets for future
growth have been set: "During the preceding calendar year, we specifically intensified the vertical range of manufacture - in order to further improve the quality of our products and to
drastically reduce delivery times." The company employs about 500 people, 425 of which in Germany (25 more than in the previous year).
As regards the after market business, BOGE
has repositioned itself with a number of attractive offers. "It's here that we plan to make the decisive move from technical product competence to technical customer competence. Our
LONGlife warranty package along with the up to 5 years' factory warranty in Germany has had a successful launch." Modernization throughout the entire company is rigorously being pressed
ahead. Meier-Scheuven: "We are in a position to rapidly and creatively adapt ourselves to new trends and developments. And we are prepared to periodically check and examine our current
business organization and to align it with future priorities. We're constantly on the move - at all times."
