Shanghai – boomtown of the 21st century. And BOGE is in the middle of it all. Its Chinese sales company has already been operating
successfully for several years and doubled its sales last year, and now BOGE has opened its own production facilities in Shanghai – the first overseas production plant in the almost 100-year history of
the company. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, BOGE Executive Directors Wolf D. Meier-Scheuven and Rolf Struppek greeted many guests, including Hu Jinhua, the brother of the Chinese President.
BOGE
is looking for proximity to lucrative sales markets such as Asia. Opening the plant for screw compressors serves this goal. Meier-Scheuven justified the investment, saying ”China has excellent long-term
prospects and is currently the growth motor of the world economy. We want to increase our market presence here in particular”. BOGE makes about a third of its export sales in Asia, a figure that is
expected to increase in the future. Struppek continued ”Our goal in going to China is actually to strengthen BOGE as an East-Westphalian company and to secure the future of the company in Germany with a
plant in China.” An attractive large order from the Chinese power industry could also be secured on this occasion. Around 40 new employees in the production and sales departments will start work in a
new, well-lit property 2,000 m² in size.
